Mommarie's Pocket Burgers


My Mom has made these and our family enjoys them!

Brown 2 lbs Hamburger and
1 med chopped Onion in a skillet.

Brown above ingredients together.

1 Can Tomato paste, can of Milk
1/2 t Pepper

1 t Salt

1 t Chili Powder
3 TB Honey
Hot Sauce or Salsa

Add above to browned hamburger. Mix, set aside.

This mixture will be thick like a sloppy joe topping. Can also use Taco Seasoning if you want.

~Dough~

1 C warm water

1 pkg. or 1 1/2 teaspoons dry active yeast

Dissolve-add 1 TB Honey-Let sit for 1 min. Add 3 TB Salad Oil (or Canola)

1 t Salt

3 C Flour (about)

To make dough. Knead for 5 min. divide into 12 equal peices. Cover. Let sit 5 min.

Roll dough out in rounds-add wedge of cheese-about 1/2 inch thick. Top with about 1/4 C Hamburger mixture. Fold edges up to close. Place folded side down on ungreased cookie sheet. (So cheese wedge is at top of pocket). Bake 350 Degrees-Half hour or 'til browned.

You can also use pizza dough.

Mommarie's/Grandmarie's Edible Play-Dough


This Edible Play-Dough is super healthy for you!...You may play with your food before you eat it! :-)
1 C Peanut Butter

1/2 C Powdered Milk

1/4 C Wheat Germ or Bran Flakes

1/4 C Honey

Stir together. If sticky add more Powdered milk. Decorate with Raisins or Craisins.

Servings: 4

After-School Carrot Cookies


1/2 cup boiling water

1/2 cup raisins

1 cup dark brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup shortening

1 egg, unbeaten

1 teaspoon lemon extract

1/2 cup finely shredded raw carrot

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pour boiling water over raisins; soak 5 minutes; drain. Combine sugar, shortening, egg and lemon extract in mixing bowl; beat well. Stir in carrot and drained raisins. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt; add to first mixture and blend well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 3 dozen cookies.

Noodles Alfredo


Makes 5 or 6 servings

8 oz. wide egg noodles

1/2 c. butter

1/2 c. half & half

1 c. Parmesan cheese, grated

1 T. parsley flakes

1/4 tsp. salt

Dash pepper

Cook noodles as directed on package. While noodles cook, heat butter and half & half in saucepan over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in cheese, parsley flakes, salt, and pepper; keep warm over low heat.

Return drained noodles to kettle. Pour sauce over noodles, stirring gently until noodles are well coated.

Missouri Cookies



2 cups sugar

3 T. cocoa

1 cube butter

1/2 cup milk

1/4 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients and bring to a boil for 1 minute. Stir in 3 cups of oats, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and 1 tsp.vanilla. Stir until quite thick, then drop by tablespoons onto waxed paper to cool.

Snickerdoodles



About 6 dozen cookies.


1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and the eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.

Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon; roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet.

Mommarie's Fried Rice


Cook 3 C of Rice

In a skillet, Brown 1 Pound favorite meat. (Sausage, Beef, Ham, Pork, Hot dogs, or chicken). (Set aside).

6 scrambled Eggs. (Flat like an Omlet, but not folded over, and chopped ). Cook Through. (Set aside)

Put your cooked rice in skillet. Add the below ingredients:

1-2 C Peas (frozen or fresh)

4 to 6 Green Onion Stalks. (Chopped).

Season to taste with:

Organic No-Salt

1/4 to 1/2 C (however much you prefer). Liquid Aminos or Soy Sauce.

Next add your meat and eggs...

Serve warm with veggies and Sourdough Bread toast.

Better Than Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 Box Plain Yellow Cake
4 Eggs

1 C Brown Sugar

1 Can (30 oz. Size) Pumpkin


1 C Margarine or Butter

2/3 C Milk

1 TB Cinnamon

1/2 C Brown Sugar

Directions:

Reserve 1 C of the cake mix. Set aside.

Melt 1/2 the butter and mix the remaining cake mix and 1 beaten egg. Spread in bottom of 9x13 in greased dish.

Mix together the first measure of brown sugar, the milk, cinnamon, remaining beaten eggs, and pumpkin. Pour over cake mix layer. Combine the reserved cake mix, remaining brown sugar and the remaining soft butter. Crumble over pumpkin layer and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serve warm or chill in the refrigerator. Cut in squares and serve with whipped cream or whipped topping.

Mommarie's BBQ Sauce and Ham Sandwiches

Open Sourdough Hoagie Rolls. Put one squirt BBQ Sauce on one side of Hoagie Rolls.
(You can also toast the rolls. Optional).

Cut cheese and add on both sides of the Hoagie Rolls. Next add two slices of ham.

Serve warm.

Mommarie's Hamburger Pie


Brown 2 pounds of Hamburger.

Pepper
Salt

Organic No-Salt

Garlic

Onions

16 0z Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup or 2 cans Tomato Soup

3-4 C Green Beans

6-8 Medium (Mashed) Potatos

Parsley

Cheese

Season to taste, with, Pepper, Organic No-Salt, Garlic and Onions. Add 16 oz Organic Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup (from Costco) or 2 cans Tomato Soup. Add 3-4 C Green Beans. Heat through. Next mound mashed potatos on top. Sprinkle with Parsley, cheese or both. Put the lid on the skillet or pour it in a cassarole dish and put the meal in the oven. Let cheese melt. Serve Hot.

Mommarie's Cheesy Noodles

Servings: 8 to 10
Ready in: About 30 Minutes

In a pot add 1 Package 17.6 oz Organic Garofalo Noodles (or elbow Macaroni)
Cook noodles as directed on package.

In a skillet brown 1 lb meat on meadium heat. (ground beef, or ground sausage, or hot dogs, or don't use any meat at all).
Sprinkle a 1/4 of a cup flour over meat of choice. And stir. ( If you are not useing meat, then mix 1/4 C flour in 1/4 C of melted butter). Turn the heat off or down when you add the flour.

Slowly add 2 Cups of Milk. Continue stirring. (Turn oven on low when adding milk). (As you add milk slowly turn oven to a higher temp to thicken it).

When thickened add 1 Cup Sour Cream and 2 Cups of Cheese. Stir until creamy. Turn oven up to medium or low until done.

Season to taste (Mommarie uses Basil, Oregano, Marjoram, Parsley, Kirkland Organic No-Salt, Salt and Pepper)

Sprinkle with Parsely and grated cheese (Optional).

Serve hot with Sour Dough bread and fresh Garden Veggies.

Mommarie's Biscuit, Beans and Beef Casserole


1 lb Hamburger
1 Can Pork 'n' Beans (or cook your own)

1/4 C BBQ Sauce

1/2 C Ketchup
1/4 C Mustard

2 TB Brown Sugar

2 t of dried Basil or 2 TB of fresh Basil

1 TB Mince Onion or Raw

1 Can WF Biscuits (or Homemade. Click here for Best Ever Biscuits http://needsomerecipes.blogspot.com/2009/09/egg-butter.html)

Cheese

Brown beef & draw. Add Pork 'n' Beans, BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, Brown Sugar, & Onion. Heat until bubbly. Put in 2 QT baking dish, top with Biscuits and Cheese.

Bake (uncovered) at 350 for 3o minutes.

Hamburger Soup



1 lb. lean ground beef
1 c. onion
1 c. celery, sliced
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. carrots, sliced
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. basil
3 c. boiling water
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 beef bouilion cube
1 T. soy sauce
1 can black or kidney beans
2-3 red potatoes

Brown ground beef and onion. Add the remaining ingredients. Cook on medium heat till veggies are tender, about 30 minutes.

Sprinkle with fresh grated parmesan in desired.

Carob Mountain Balls

Mix in bowl:

3 C Oats

6T Carob Powder

1/2 C Peanut or Almond Butter

1 t Vanilla

1/2 C Coconut

Mix and boil for one minute:

1/2 C Honey or juice sweetener

1/4 C Butter or Oil (we use oil)

Mix above together, roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. Let harden in fridge. (messy to handle). :-)

Mommarie's Taco Noodle Dinner!

Ready in less than 45 minutes.
Servings: 6

1 pound Ground Beef*

Half Head Small Cabbage

1/4 C chopped Onion
3/4 C Salsa

1/2 t Salt

3 C Uncooked fine Egg Noodles

3 C Tomato Juice

2 Cloves Garlic

2 t dried Basil or 1 T of fresh Basil

1 C Sour Cream

1 C Cheese

1 T Minced Fresh Parsley

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the Salsa and salt. Reduce heat; simmer for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle noodles over the top. Pour tomato juice over the noodles and stir gently. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until noodles are soft.

Remove from the heat. Mix the sour cream, parsley and cheese; spread over the top of your Taco Noodle Dinner. Then sprinkle parsley on top (Optional). Cover and let sit for 5 minutes. (Before spreading the sour cream, cheese and parsley on top, pour into casserole dish, then spread on your sour cream, cheese and parsley mix).

Mommarie's Irish Toast Bread!




For 2 Loaves of Bread:
2 Cups Hot Water

3 T Sugar or Honey
1/2 C Oil

5-6 C Flour

2 T Yeast

1 T Salt

2 T Gluton optional w/white flour

3 T Powdered Buttermilk
1 t Nutmeg
Knead for ten minutes, let rise for 3o minutes. Bake 375 degrees for twenty to twenty five minutes.

Egg Butter...


is a Breakfast meal.

Mix
2/3 C Sugar
1/4 t Flour
beat
4 Eggs;
Add the eggs to the flour and sugar mixture.
Add to above mixture:
3/4 C Boiling Water

Sprinkle nutmeg after thickened.

Stir over medium heat until thick.
Serve over Biscuits!

Best Ever Biscuits

2 C Flour

1 T Baking Powder

2 t Sugar (or honey)

1/2 t Cream of Tartar

1/4 t Salt
1/2 C Shortening or Butter

2/3 C Milk
Sometimes Mother makes her own butter out of 2 cups of Fresh Breeze Cream. Then she uses the butter and the buttermilk in place of the shortening and regular milk.
Mix the dry ingredients cut in the butter with a pastery blender. Add the milk, form a ball (handle dough as little as possible). Roll dough out half inch thick. Cut into biscuits. Bake at 500 degrees for six to eight minutes, depending on biscuit size.

Classic Beef Stroganoff

Serves 4

1 pound beef tenderloin or sirloin steak, about 1/2 inch think
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 pound mushrooms, washed, trimmed, and sliced (optional)
1 medium onion, minced (about 1/2 cup)
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth (bouillon)
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 small clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup dairy sour cream
3 to 4 cups hot cooked noodles

Cut meat across the grain into 1/2-inch strips, about 1 1/2 inches long. Melt butter in large skillet. Add mushrooms and onion; cook and stir until onion is tender, then remove from skillet.

In same skillet, cook meat until light brown. Reserving 1/3 cup of the broth, stir in remaining broth, the ketchup, garlic, and salt. Cover; simmer 15 minutes.

Blend in reserved broth and flour; stir into meat mixture. Add mushrooms and onion. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Reduce heat. Stir in sour cream; heat. Serve over noodles.

Chocolate Krinkles-the Original Maiden Cookies :-)

Our family got this recipe from some friends!

These are very yummy!

This is a half batch.

1 C Margarine (or Butter)

2 C Sugar

1/2 C Cocoa

2 Eggs

3/4 T Vanilla

3 C Flour (approx.-it may need less)

1 C Powdered Sugar (add this to the batter. More will be needed to roll them in)

1 t Baking Soda

1 t Baking Powder

1/2 t Salt

Roll balls in powdered sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. Will need to cool before removing from sheet, as they will be soft.
